Nepal (NEP) is set to take on Canada (CAN) in the inaugural ODI match of their three-game series, scheduled for Thursday, February 7, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. This marks the first-ever ODI encounter between the two nations.

Canada recently participated in a tri-series against Malaysia and Hong Kong, dominating the group stage with victories in all matches. However, they faced defeat in the final against Malaysia, who successfully chased down a target of 244 runs in a rain-affected match, securing a three-wicket win.

Nepal's most recent ODI fixture was against India in the Asia Cup, where India claimed victory by 10 wickets. Following the conclusion of the series against Canada, Nepal is slated to compete in the CWC League 2 from February 15 to 24 against Namibia and the Netherlands. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced separate squads for these two series, with Rohit Paudel named as the captain for both.

Notably, players such as Dipendra Singh Airee, Karan KC, Arjun Saud, and Gulshan Jha have been rested for the Canada series. Rohit Paudel will lead the team, with Surya Tamang, Pawan Sarraf, and Rijan Dhakal featuring in both squads. Several players who showcased promising performances in the recent PM National Cup tournament have also earned spots in the squad for the upcoming fixtures.
