Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell found himself amid a medical concern after a lively night out in Adelaide on Friday. The dynamic all-rounder, having made a dazzling appearance at a prominent golf event in Adelaide's CBD, reportedly proceeded to a local pub where Brett Lee and his band, Six and Out, were entertaining the crowd. Sources reveal that Maxwell, following the pub rendezvous, was swiftly transported to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in an ambulance, although he did not stay overnight.

Despite the setback, there is a silver lining for the dynamic all-rounder, as reports indicate that he is already back in training for the upcoming T20 series against the West Indies. Cricket Australia is reportedly aware of the recent incident involving Maxwell and has taken it into account. However, Maxwell will be absent from the ODI series, with Jake Fraser-McGurk and Xavier Bartlett drafted into the squad. The expectation is that Maxwell will seamlessly reintegrate into the T20 side following the ODI series.

It was announced that the right-handed batter decided to relinquish his captaincy role for the Melbourne Stars on Friday, marking the end of a tenure that saw the team miss the Big Bash League finals for the fourth consecutive year. This decision came on the heels of him opting out of Australia's One Day International series against the West Indies in early February as he cited management reasons due to his active participation in both Australia's World Cup campaign and the domestic T20 season.

Glenn Maxwell stepping down as Captain in BBL might be strategic choice

Glenn Maxwell's decision to step down as the Stars' captain was not a knee-jerk reaction but a strategic move to usher in a fresh perspective. The Stars have grappled with underperformance for four consecutive years, failing to reach the BBL finals. The Australia all-rounder conveyed his choice to relinquish the captaincy to his teammates after the Stars' final game of the season against the Hurricanes on Monday night.

Having assumed the captaincy role in late 2018 after John Hastings, Glenn Maxwell led the Stars to two finals in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, only to lose both to the Renegades and Sixers, respectively. Although he remains under contract with the Melbourne Stars for the next two years, the focus will now shift to his prowess in batting and bowling.
