Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had quite the over in his most recent game of the ongoing BBL 2023-2024 (Big Bash League), where Hobart Hurricanes took on Melbourne Stars in the 17th game of the tournament on Thursday, December 28.

In the 13th over of the first innings, Maxwell had a shot by Corey Anderson, who hit him straight to his hand. As a result of his brute force and the impact of the flying ball, Maxwell's hand became numb for a while. However, the sore hand did not stop the star player from leaving his impact on the over.

Glenn Maxwell quickly made a successful comeback by dismissing Caleb Jewell and then followed it up by dismissing Tim David as well. The 35-year-old ended the first innings by taking three wickets and conceding 29 runs in the four overs that he bowled in.

Melbourne Stars look to keep winning run alive

Melbourne Stars have now made back-to-back wins after their brilliant performances in the recent clashes. The side found itself on the wrong end of the standings after losing their first three matches. However, with two consecutive wins, their confidence would be at an all-time high. Furthermore, the two wins have put the side in the conversation to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament as well.

Defeating Hurricanes in their previous game, Stars will take on Adelaide Strikers in their next game. Both sides will face off in the 20th game of the ongoing season of the BBL 2023-2024 on Sunday, December 31 and it could be interesting to see if they can keep their form up.

In another development for the side, Stars recently announced English batter Dan Lawrence as their latest signing. Coming in as a replacement, Lawrence will play the remainder of the season for Stars and will significantly boost their batting order. Currently, the side sits in fourth place in the standings with four points in five games, and they will look to register another win in their next game.
