The former captain and wicketkeeper-batter of Pakistan ruled Pakistani cricket after the resignation of Misbah-ul-Haq. The highlight of his career is winning the 2017 champions trophy. He is well known for his captaincy skills and wicket keeping.

After getting the Pakistan cap for the first time against India on 18 November 2007, he performed decently in all formats of the game. He played 223 matches for Pakistan and scored 5771 runs with the help of five centuries and 32 half-centuries. Apart from that, he has affected 352 dismissals in his international career.

Due to his poor performance last year, he did not find a place in the T20 World Cup 2021 squad initially. However, he was recalled to the Pakistan squad after the exclusion of Azam khan.
