BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has announced that India, Australia, England and another top team will collide with each other in a 4-nation Super Series starting from 2021. This announcement came after BCCI, CA and ECB opposed ICC’s decision of having a global event once in every year from 2023 to 2031.

The first edition of this tournament will be played in India as it promises to entertain the fans. This is the first time in many years that 4 teams will lock horns with each other in a series. Earlier, the ICC did not allow the organization of tournaments which had more than 3 teams. Only the Asia Cup and ICC events were exceptions to it.

However, it seems like the top boards have now decided to go forward with their plan and the following 3 nations could join them as the 4th team.

The strongest candidate to join this Super Series is New Zealand. The Black Caps have been one of the most consistent units in multi-nation tournaments. They have not won a major event but they finished runners-up in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups.

Besides, they had also reached the semi-finals of the 2011 World Cup. Hence, New Zealand have proven themselves as a top team in the cricket world. The Kiwis have always been the underdogs in the race to the top but Kane Williamson and co. have punched above their weight.

As the hosting rights of the tournament will rotate for every edition, the small grounds in New Zealand will produce some thrilling encounters as well. Thus, it would be a great decision to include New Zealand in the mix.
