Suryakumar Yadav has toiled hard in domestic cricket and finally, his efforts are being recognised. He was picked to play for India A in the ODIs against New Zealand A and his name is even doing the rounds to get picked in the national side ahead of the T20 World Cup.

The Mumbai cricketer has always performed at his best and had hit a purple patch during the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season. In the four innings which he batted, Surya went on to amass 226 runs at a staggering average of 113 and a strike-rate of 154.79. He was hitting sixes for fun shuffling in his crease and though he is not an opener, he could be given a chance to open the innings based on his performances for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

However, the 29-year-old didn’t have a memorable series against New Zealand A. He could muster only 136 in the five innings he batted on the tour. Surya batted mostly at four of five during the series. But one would believe he still has an outside chance of getting a call-up to the Indian side with India not slated to play any T20I before the IPL.
