Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most destructive and lethal batsmen in limited-overs cricket, at the moment. In the last two years, Dhawan has upped his ODI game by a big margin and his starts are the key to India’s success, more often than not. It would be fair to undermine his exploits in the ODI format.

However, his form has gone down in the recent past and with his age being 33, Dhawan’s batting prowess is set to go down as his career progresses. The left-right combo has certainly worked well for India post the ICC CWC 2011 and losing Dhawan would be a major blow. Ishank Kishan is one such option who can replace the left-hander in the squad if the former does decide to hang his boots in the future.

Ishan’s ability to be aggressive at the top and learn quickly from his mistakes makes him one of the ideal candidates to replace the 33-year-old post the World Cup 2019. Ishan’s consistency and maturity in batting ranks higher than that of Rishabh Pant and the debate will more likely end in Ishan’s favor than it would for Rishabh.
