Relying on instinct and a game without half-measures, Shreyas Iyer capped off a prolific season with a brilliant hundred in the summit clash. Walking in at 0 for 1 on a green top in Pune he brought up a 114-ball 100 is a manner that should please the national selectors to no end. He made 1321 runs at an average of 73.80 and an astonishing a strike rate of 92.70. His dismissal in the final left him just 95 runs short of VVS Laxman’s record for most runs in a Ranji Trophy season.
