With the eyes set on the T20 World Cup, the cricketing fraternity will witness a lot of fast-paced action in the coming months. While the fans will be counting down the days the participants will be busy shaping up their respective squads. One such team is the inaugural T20 World champions, India who have been playing T20Is around the globe.

To be precise, the Indian team has played six bilateral series in the last six months. They have won five of them including the recent series whitewash against the Black Caps. So, there is no doubt that they will be one of the top contenders to win the biggest prize of the T20 cricket.

However, the Men in Blue have their share of frailties which will be exploited by the opposition teams if they fail to address them before the multi-nation tournament.

Here is the list of 5 issues the Indian team needs to address before the T20 World Cup:

1. Inconsistency of spin department

Throughout their playing history, the Indian team has been enjoying the presence of world-class spinners in their squad. Interestingly there have been times when the team was solely dependent on their spin-department to win matches. However, things have changed for good and now the team has a more balanced bowling attack. Still, the spinners form an important part of India’s bowling plans.

That’s why Virat Kohli and Co. has often tried to build a varied spin attack. Especially in the limited-overs cricket where the spinners have to play diverse roles according to the needs of the team. Fortunately, India has been bestowed with quality tweakers like Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravindra Jadeja. The trio has been critical for the country’s recent white-ball success.

Having said that, the trio has been inconsistent with their trade in the last few months. They have managed to bag mere 25 wickets in the last 20 T20Is where at least one of them has been in the Playing XI. Those numbers are mediocre considering their talent and have not been looked enough because of India’s recent winning run.

Apart from them the other spinners Washington Sundar and Krunal Pandya have also failed to perform consistently. So now India has a big task of ironing out the irregularities of their spin-department before the T20 championship.
