5 Players who might debut for India after 2019 World Cup

After India won the 2011 ICC World Cup under the astounding leadership of MS Dhoni, the team lost its way big time a few months after the tournament. It’s not a new scenario and this behavioural facet has been observed in many international football teams in the past as well. France, after winning the World Cup in 1998, lost to World Cup debutants Senegal in 2002 and bowed out of the championship in group stages. Italy followed the suit in 2010 as they got knocked out group stages despite being defending champions. Spain in 2014 and Germany in 2018 suffered the same fate and now this is concerning various teams across all sports. Maybe the players feel short of motivation after winning the biggest trophy on the planet and it’s not easy to maintain the same level after achieving something so big. India, who are one of the favourites to win the title, will have a tough time dealing with forms of their players after the World Cup, regardless of India winning or not winning the championship. Henceforth, we might see some new names coming into the picture. Here are a few Indian cricketers who did extremely well in domestic cricket in recent times and might earn a call up soon after the World Championship. 1. Ishan Kishan Ishan Kishan. One of the finest young talents in Indian domestic circuit right now, it will come in as a humongous surprise if this lad fails to make his international debut before 2020 ends. Blessed with muscular strength and great audacity, Kishan is also the captain of his stateside at the age of 20. Jharkhand had a terrific run in the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy and he already has a hundred to his name in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which began a few days back. He clearly is banging on the doors of the selectors who might not ignore him for a long time. 2. Shivam Mavi Shivam Mavi. He showed great promise during the U19 World Cup 2018 and backed it up with a decent performance in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders. It might take some time for him to get ready for the biggest stage, but the groundwork is going on pretty well. He has 19 wickets to his name in 5 FC matches and definitely a lot more are on his way. To break into this Indian setup, he might have buck up a bit more with the willow in hand. 3. Deepak Hooda Deepak Hooda of SRH plays a shot. The Baroda all-rounder possesses immaculate talent both with bat and ball and can change the game all by himself, just like the Pathan brothers who also hail from the same region. He also captained Baroda in the Ranji Trophy briefly. Hooda has been receiving a huge paycheck from Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last three seasons but is yet to deliver a top performance. His domestic record has been quite solid and he is looking good to make an impact in the IPL where most of the senior players will be rested due to World Cup commitments. If he takes this chance with both hands, we might see Hooda don the national jersey in 2019. 4. Abhishek Sharma Abhishek Sharma of India U19s bats. He represented the Delhi Daredevils in a few games and showed glimpses of the amazing ability he possesses. He made his first-class debut at the age of 17 and is making his mark at the domestic level. His first-class and List-A statistics might not reflect upon the talent he has, but Abhishek Sharma has a fantastic chance of coming up with the Sunrisers Hyderabad. With most senior players gone, he will get a lot of games and it will be interesting to see how well he will fare. 5. Rajneesh Gurbani Rajneesh Gurbani of Vidarbha. He ripped apart teams with his sensational bowling in the knockouts of the 2017/18 Ranji edition and helped Vidarbha claim their first chance to kiss the trophy. He had a par outing in the recently concluded season but played a major role in helping Vidarbha claim their second title. He has the physique, temperament and grit to perform in big games and he might break into the Indian Test side very soon. Considering he’s 26 already, the coming few years are going to be crucial for the fast bowler.
