Mumbai effectively didn’t release a single player from among those who regularly featured for them in the IPL last season. They have always focused on retaining the core of their squad and so weren’t really desperate to get players. The team did bid for the likes of Ben Stokes but having walked in with a purse of 11.5 crores they couldn’t bid beyond a point

MI shell out the most INR 3.2 crores for leg-spinner Karn Sharma since they don’t have a leggie in the line-up and he will prove to be an asset to partner Harbhajan Singh. Karnataka allrounder Krishnappa Gowtham appeared to be high on their priority list as they picked him for 2 crores another very good signing for them at the same price was former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson who had been in some form during the BBL.

They also rather lucky to get two steal deals buying Sri Lankan allrounder Asela Gunaratne for his base price of INR 30 lakhs and West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran for the same amount.

Here is the full list of players MI bought in the auction:

Player Class Price
Karn Sharma All-Rounder 3,20,00,000
Krishnappa Gowtham All-Rounder 2,00,00,000
Mitchell Johnson Bowler 2,00,00,000
Asela Gunarathna Batsman 30,00,000
Saurabh Tiwary Batsman 30,00,000
Nicolas Pooran Wicket Keeper 30,00,000
Kulwant Khejroliya Bowler 10,00,000
