8 Teams and their picks in IPL 2017 Auction
6. Delhi Daredevils
Last season under the leadership of Rahul Dravid Delhi Daredevils was a youth-driven team and the focus was to churn out the best out of the inexperienced youngsters they had signed up. The results didn’t really go their way and this year they have made amends to a certain extent. In the IPL 2017 auction, they bought two frontline fast bowlers who are genuine wicket-takers and will bolster their bowling department. Kagiso Rabada and Pat Cummins at 5 and 4.5 crore respectively definitely are value for money players.
Their approach was as calculated as one would expect Dravid to be. After two pacers they bid for Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews, were able to get him at his base price, then once again made a single bid for New Zealand allrounder Corey Anderson at 1 crore to add two experienced international seam bowling allrounders to the team. In Murugan Ashwin they have a good leg-spinner, Aditya Tare will be their backup wicketkeeper.
Navdeep Saini who made his India A debut last week impressed with his bowling and won a contract from the Delhi team.
