8 Teams and their picks in IPL 2017 Auction
8. Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI Punjab have to really turn things around this season having ended with the wooden spoon in the last two seasons the owners decided to completely revamp the coaching squad. Virender Sehwag has been appointed the director of cricket and a new set of coaches have been brought in as well.
In the auction they were the first and only to go for English skipper Eoin Morgan; he cost them 2 crores. KXIP added three fast bowlers to the line-up in the form of Indian pacer Varun Aaron, New Zealand quick Matt Henry and young Thangarasu Natrajan from Tamil Nadu who is termed a Mushfiqur Rahim-esque bowler who bowls some mean cutters and was very effective in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
Martin Guptill at his base price of 50 lakh and Darren Sammy for the opening bid of 30 lakh were again two really good picks for the team that has traditionally relied on overseas recruits to power the team.
