Senior cricketer Ambati Rayudu has joined Baroda for the upcoming domestic season. To note, Rayudu had earlier received a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Andhra Cricket Association. The right-handed batter is now available to play all forms of cricket for his new team.

The veteran batter has not played any First-Class match since November 2017 but holds a lot of experience in the domestic arena. Rayudu has already represented Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha, and even Baroda previously. Rayudu will now be joining his old team and try to perform well for his side.

Talking about Rayudu’s numbers in First-Class cricket, the 36-year-old has played 97 matches and scored 6151 runs at an excellent average of 45.56. He has also stroked 34 fifties and 16 hundreds. In List-A format, the right-handed batter has played 172 matches and has amassed 5479 runs with his highest being 124 not out.

Meanwhile, Team Baroda are also trying to bring back their star batter Deepak Hooda in the midst. Both Hooda and Krunal Pandya were involved in some heated exchanges previously which resulted in Hooda joining Rajasthan to continue his domestic career.

“As far as I know, they get along as well as they did earlier,” Shishir Hattangadi, the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) chief executive, told ESPNcricinfo. “They have cleared their differences. They played and excelled together for the same IPL team. They have sorted whatever issues they have.”
“While we are hopeful of Hooda’s return, we can’t say for sure, because from a cricketing perspective, it was Rajasthan who opened their doors for him when he needed a team. From our side, we’re making an effort. We’ll have to wait for a final call,” he added.
Meanwhile, Baroda have also named former Indian batter Yusuf Pathan as their mentor on a one-year contract. “Baroda is a small unit, and the idea is to have someone of Yusuf’s stature to help nurture the talent coming through. We’ve seen players don’t lack ability, it’s their confidence level and mental make-up that needs tweaks. We thought Yusuf would be a perfect fit,” Hattangadi said.
