BBL 2016-17: 5 Bowlers to watch out for

T20 cricket, despite having a reputation of being a bowler harsh format, has seen a bunch of exceptionally talented bowlers who can thrive in the hustle – bustle form of cricket. These bowlers are the opposite of the ones who look cluelessly, getting bashed by the batsmen. They make the batsmen think and beware. BBL has been one of those stages where the bowlers who tasted success in spite of the fact that the tournament has been generally very batting friendly. Talking about the incentives, the Big Bash League (BBL) has been a platform for the bowlers to leapfrog others and achieve success on a grand stage, earn fans and move a step closer to Test glory. Performances here don’t go unnoticed and shining in the BBL almost guarantees selectors faith. 1. Mitchell Starc (Sydney Sixers) Mitchell Starc of the SIxers. Injuries have troubled him in different forms but he has, time again and again, come back stronger to perform his duties of being the lead bowler for his team. The strong fast bowler has the most potent yorker in the business and can bounce out the best pull and hook shot players. Facing him will be a challenge for all the opposition teams as he prepared to become the fast bowling lead of the Sydney Sixers in BBL 2016-17. 2. In fact, the leg-spinner with his highly effective economical bowling has now solidified his position of being a reliable limited-overs spinner. With with 30 wickets in 19 ODIs, Zampa ends the 2016 season as the highest wicket taker in ODIs for Australia and will be one of the key components for the Melbourne Stars in the upcoming season. 3. The fact that Zampa was successful in utilizing the opportunities that came his way remains the only difference between both the leggies. He has a lot of similarities to his better-accomplished counterpart. Both aren’t big turners of the ball but stick to nagging line and length and are quite economical. His impressive outing in the previous season which got him 11 wickets at an average 22 which earned him his international debut. He later went on to get seven more T20I matches under his belt before losing his place to Zampa. This upcoming season will be yet another chance for the Queensland player to have an impact stake his claim for the national team. 4. Stuart Broad (Hobart Hurricanes) Stuart Broad. The seasoned English fast bowler will add firepower to the Hobart bowling attack which consists of Jake Reed, Jonathan Well, Ben McDermott and Shaun Tait. Going by his international experience and success for England, Broad is the most exciting bower in the Hurricanes setup and will play a key role in determining the amount of success the franchise will attain this season. 5. (Photo by Robert Cianflone/Getty Images) James Pattinson, the right-arm fast bowler, is the most injury prone fast bowler in recent times. Micthell Starc comes a close second. Pattinson’s promising career has been marred by injuries. He is once again on a comeback and will pray that he has successful and injury free BBL 2016-17. The 26-year-old has been out injured since February, but has been playing Premier Cricket in Melbourne and is ready and raring to go. There no need to essay the fact that when it comes to potency, there are very few who as dangerous as him. He bowls fast and can swing it and gets prized wickets. This is what a T20 bowler is expected do. He fits the bill quite naturally and will hope to prove his fitness and re-enter the national set-up.
