Pakistan is staging the Emerging Nations Cup 2018 from December 4 to 10 with seven participating teams but India has denied travelling to the country. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will not send its team to Pakistan for the tournament. Sri Lanka, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, UAE, Hong Kong and hosts Pakistan are the teams who will fight it out for the Emerging Nations Cup.

However, the organizers had to make an arrangement for the Indian team. Their matches will be hosted in Sri Lanka and the final of the tournament has been awarded to Colombo. Thus there will be two legs – one played in Karachi and other in Colombo. The National Stadium in Karachi will host three matches while the other three will be played at the Southend Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan, Bangladesh, UAE and Hong Kong are in one group while Sri Lanka, India and Afghanistan constitute the other. A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said that they have made the required security arrangements and the travelling teams will get top-level security.

“A proper security plan has been prepared for the visiting teams and they will be given top security throughout their stay in Karachi from December 4 to 10,” said the PCB official as per TimesNow.

PCB wants to use this opportunity to once again show the world that it is a safe country to play cricket and will be another big step towards the return of international cricket in Pakistan. They have been playing all their home matches and hosting the Pakistan Super League in the United Arab Emirates.

Return of International cricket to Pakistan

The board first scheduled the final of PSL 2 in Lahore, after successfully conducting that, they didn’t just gain confidence but a lot of credibility as well. In the subsequent season, the last three matches were held in Lahore and Karachi.

After that, the International Cricket Council (ICC) agreed to send a World XI squad to play three T20Is to Pakistan and they were all played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Since then Sri Lanka has played a T20I in Pakistan and Windies played a three-match series there.
