Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli who is more often been on the right side of the fans was criticized heavily for his comment asking a fan to leave the country. He was reading mean comments from fans and while reacting to one of those went on to prompt that individual to get his priorities right. On being asked about Kohli’s reaction Indian chess champion Viswanathan Anand thinks ‘he lost control’.

The comment turned into a huge controversy and Kohli, in fact, had to put up a justification as well. A fan had written that he thinks Kohli is overrated and rather enjoys watching England and Australian batsmen. “I don’t think you should live in India. I don’t mind you not liking me but I don’t think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right,” the Indian skipper had said while talking on his newly launched app.

Anand was asked about it on the sidelines of the Tata Steel Chess and said it could’ve been a moment where he got emotional and thus his reaction was more impulsive. “I think he lost control. He got a bit emotional and he just said the first thing that came to his mind,” he was quoted as saying on Indian Express.

The five-time chess champion also mentioned that every sports person carries their own character and this is what fits Kohli the best. “That’s the attitude he is comfortable with. In sport, you see all characters and this is the character that fits him best. I try to be myself and in the end, you should be comfortable in your own skin,” Anand added.

Talking in further detail about it, the Grand Master mentioned that the Indian cricketer might have been caught in a weak spot. “Maybe Kohli was caught at a weak moment, feeling a bit sensitive and was not in the best mood maybe. That’s my impression. Then he lost control of it,” he said.

“People are emotional and they lose control once in a while. It has happened to me even if I was more successful in not showing it. But there are moments when your emotions take over,” he said. “He has got enough criticism already. It’s over. Those who did not like it, already criticised him so no need to keep piling on it,” he stated.
