Virat Kohli was branded for his brashness before he won hearts of cricket fans across the world. He loves to sledge and being sledged only works in his favour. We’ve all seen that and it took the worst turn when Kohli was up against Australia. To the Aussies, it was like one of their own showing them the mirror. Fox Sports Australia who broadcast the matches there compared the Indian batter to animals in 2017. Ahead of Team India’s 2018-19 tour though they cannot stop talking about King Kohli.

Fox Sports had put up a post on Facebook asking their fans to vote for the Vettel of the week. The options were Virat Kohli, a panda, a puppy, a kitten. The caption read- “Recent events have prompted a return of our Vettel of The Week award. Kids, ask your grandparents. The rest of you know the drill.”

Here is the post:

It is a changed narrative this time. The latest advertisement campaign that they launched today starts with Virat Kohli. It says, ‘The King is coming. The world’s best batsman is on fire. Fastest ever to 10,000 ODI runs. 2018 average of 133.5. The first Indian captain to win a series in Australia? See every ball of Kohli this summer only on Fox cricket.’ Even the title of their package is ‘King Kohli Australia’.

Here is the new video:

This is what Virat has managed to achieve in the last year and a half. Earlier only the Indian cricket fans and experts termed him the best, most would use terms like one of the best. But now, with the way he has been batting, day in, day out, across formats, across continents it has forced the whole wide world to accept that Kohli is the best batsman in the current era.

The Aussies will know that too, he had hit form on the last tour as well but was outplayed by his opposite number and thus had to settle second in the series. There is no Steve Smith this time and Virat is just getting better every passing day. It will be interesting to see how the series unfolds especially the four Tests.
