The Pakistan Super League (PSL) seems to be getting bigger than before as it’s been reported that close to 500 players have put forward their names for the players’ draft of the next season. The draft that is going to take place in Lahore on 12th of November will see the franchises picking players from Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging categories.

From the first three categories i.e. Platinum, Diamond and Gold, only one player can be picked, while from the remaining two categories, up to four players can be picked. All the teams will already have nine players before they enter the draft.

There is a definite order in which the franchises will be picking players in the draft and at the moment, the order is such that Lahore Qalandars will have a crack first and then Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans will follow. However, there may be some changes made in this order later in the draft depending on the trades that happen.

The minimum salary that can be offered to the players from the Platinum category is $140,000, while for the players from Diamond and Gold categories, this figure is $70,000 and $50,000 respectively.

Players ready to play in Pakistan

The Pakistani website Geo.tv, on the account of the information gathered by sources, has reported that a major fraction of the players whose names are in the draft have agreed to travel to Pakistan if the PSL organizing committee decides to host a few matches of the tournament in Pakistan.

Some T20 sensations in the draft

Some of the players, who are going to be available for selection for the first time in the PSL draft, are Mitchell Johnson, Chris Lynn, Collin Munro, Carlos Brathwaite, Ian Bell, Luke Ronchi, Tim Bresnan and Mitchell McClenaghan.

While almost all of them are top quality T20 players, Lynn and Munro, in particular, have made quite a name for themselves in the shortest format of the game in the recent past and their presence is going to add more spunk to the PSL.
