IPL: 3 records held by PBKS that may never be broken
Despite their lack of success on the field, PBKS are widely regarded as one of the most entertaining franchises in the history of the tournament.
1. Lowest total defended in IPL history
On the opposite end of the spectrum, PBKS also holds the record for the lowest total ever defended in an IPL game, which coincidentally came against KKR in 2025 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
Bowling first, KKR bundled PBKS out for just 111, thanks to Harshit Rana’s three-wicket haul and two wickets apiece taken by Sunil Narine and Varun Charavarthy. In what looked like an easy run chase for the defending champions, PBKS bowlers had other ideas.
Yuzvendra Chahal bowled the spell of his life to take four wickets, while Marco Jansen took three to see KKR stumble from 62 for 3 to 95 all out, which saw PBKS register an unlikely victory by 16 runs. Iyer’s men broke the Chennai Super Kings’ record from 2009 when they defended 117 against PBKS themselves.
