While driving his Mercedes SUV, the vehicle rammed into a divider, flipped multiple times, and eventually caught fire. Pant managed to escape the wreckage with the help of bystanders from Haryana Roadways, who risked their lives to rescue him.

The accident resulted in multiple serious injuries, forcing Pant into a long and demanding rehabilitation process. As a result, he was ruled out of international cricket for an extended period and also missed the entire IPL 2023 season while representing Delhi Capitals.
