Abhishek Nayar, the former India assistant coach, has helped many top-class cricketers achieve success or rediscover lost form. He was the one who suggested Dinesh Karthik to play the role of a finisher in the shortest format of the game. The wicketkeeper-batter performed the role commendably in the IPL and for Tamil Nadu and also made a comeback to the Indian team during the twilight stage of his career. Nayar also helped Rinku Singh become the player he is today by fine-tuning his skill sets. Rohit Sharma was also going through a lean phase with the bat in the 2024-2025 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and he worked closely with then-assistant coach Nayar. During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, after scoring a half-century against Chennai Super Kings, the Mumbai batter thanked the former all-rounder via a story on Instagram.
