5 greatest coach and captain duos
Let us look at five of the greatest coach-captain duos in international cricket history.
Andy Flower - Andrew Strauss
Andy Flower started as England’s assistant coach and was appointed full-time team director in 2009. His partnership with Andrew Strauss marked one of the most successful phases in English cricket. The duo led England to an Ashes victory in 2009 (2-1) and then a historic 3-1 series win in Australia during the 2010–11 Ashes, England's first Ashes win Down Under in 24 years.
While Strauss did not lead in the 2010 T20 World Cup, which England won, Flower’s influence remained strong. In August 2011, England became the No.1 ranked Test team, and in 2013, they reclaimed the Ashes at home with a 3-0 series win. Flower and Strauss redefined England’s approach to red-ball cricket.
