2. KL Rahul

Rahul was nowhere close to his best in the T20 extravaganza in Australia. Though the 30-year-old struck half-centuries against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, he failed to get going against the top-ranked teams. And also, his batting approach was in question more often than not. Therefore, when the flamboyant batter takes the field in Bangladesh, all eyes will be pinned on him.

In Rahul’s last ODI assignment, against Zimbabwe, he batted at the opening slot and was quite mediocre with the bat scoring 31 runs in three matches. However, with the veteran duo of Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan in the mix for the Bangladesh tour, the Bangalore-born will be pushed down to the middle order.

The ace batter has fared well in 17 ODIs he has batted in the middle order and scored 673 runs at a decent strike rate. However, with form not at Rahul’s side, it will be interesting to see how he aces this challenge. With the 50-overs World Cup next year, the Men in Blue have many quality batters such as Iyer, Suryakumar, and Samson to challenge the Indian vice-captain for the middle-order role and it will crucial for him to strike form soon.
