3. Joe Root (England)
England's batting great Joe Root enjoyed yet another outstanding year in 2025, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer in international cricket. Root hit 1613 runs at an average of 53.76 IN 25 MATCHES.
The year saw Root reach the rare milestone of 22,000 international runs, becoming only the ninth player in history to achieve the feat. His unbeaten 138 in Brisbane also ended his long wait for a century on Australian soil. He hammered seven centuries and five fifties in 2025 across formats. While England’s results fluctuated in the longest format, Root’s bat scored runs constantly.
