In the first ODI of the series in Hyderabad, youngster Shubman Gill played a cracking innings and brought up his first double ton in international cricket. The 23-year-old scored 208 runs off 149 deliveries and helped India post 349 runs on board after 50 overs. Now, even when the Men in Blue were losing wickets from one end, Gill stuck to his natural game and established his authority in the middle.

Courtesy of his knock, the Punjab-born cricketer became the fifth Indian in history to score a double century in ODI cricket. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was the first one to do it and Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan followed the legendary cricketer. Gill became the fifth addition to the list and the eighth overall men’s cricketer to achieve this feat.

Notably, Gill also became the youngest cricketer to score a double century in the 50-over format. He went on to score another century in the third ODI of the series and thus, looking at his performance, the cricketer was adjudged as the Player of the Series in the three-match ODI series.
