The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are having a disappointing IPL 2025 as they are at the bottom of the points table for a long time now for the first time in the league's history. Not only have they failed to qualify for the playoffs, but it also looks like they will finish the season with at 10th or 9th place. They haven't gotten the kind of players they might have wanted to be in the team. The auction was the one where the management failed to pick up the right players.

Hence, the team is struggling to win even a single game after the one that came against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 14. For the next season, the Super Kings will look for some talented players who can win them matches in crunch situations. Even though the mega auction is over, CSK will try to grab some steal deals in the upcoming mini auction. In this article, we will discuss the three worst buys of CSK this season.

Here are three flop signings for CSK in IPL 2025:

CSK spent INR 9.75 crore on veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin during the mega auction 2024. The management had a lot of hopes from the player, but they were crushed as he failed to perform well in the ongoing IPL season. In seven matches, he has claimed five wickets, at an average of 44.60.

After spending a hefty amount on the player, his poor performance did hurt the Super Kings. Even though they might release him on the next occasion, buying another player in a mini-auction is not a simple task. Ashwin struggled in the powerplays and couldn't make use of the spinner-friendly track in Chennai. Hence, he was one of the flops for the Super Kings.
