3. Batting line-up failed to capitalise

CSK managed to get off to decent starts on some ocassions but failed to build on them to post or chase big scores. The team used five different opening pairs and never settled on a proper combination. The average score from their openers was just 24.29. Moreover, CSK batters played 555 dot balls during the season, which also significantly disrupted their scoring momentum. Shivam Dube was the high-scorer for the team with 357 runs at an average of 32.45 which highlighted the lack of batting firepower. The inconsistency in the batting department and the lack of runs from utility players like Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda and Vijay Shankar was another major factor behind CSK’s poor performance in IPL 2025.
