Traded in from the Delhi Capitals in a deal which saw Nitish Rana go the other way, the big-hitting South African, Donovan Ferreira, was expected to slot in as the Rajasthan Royals' designated finisher. He came into IPL 2026 with a reputation as a clean hitter, but he started the season slowly, not being able to get significant scores in the early matches.

He announced himself with a half-century in a losing cause against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, being the only player to get a score as the team were bundled out for 159. From there, he took off as the Royals' designated finisher, scoring vital runs in the back end. He scored an unbeaten 52 off just 26 balls in a thrilling chase against the Punjab Kings, which earned him the player of the match award. He also scored a 14-ball 47 against the Delhi Capitals and an 11-ball 38 against the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2. He finished the season with a tally of 317 runs at a strike rate of 179.10.
