Gujarat Titans (GT) will go with a quality bowling attack in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With the likes of Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Mohit Sharma, and Umesh Yadav, Titans might be seen lifting the trophy under their newly-appointed skipper Shubman Gill. Gujarat broke into the cash-rich tournament in 2022 and lifted the trophy in their maiden season. In their magnificent success, bowlers made vital contributions. Both Shami and Rashid jointly took 39 wickets and helped GT to pull off the title. In 2023, Shami looked extraordinary again and received the support of Mohit Sharma. Both pacemen grabbed 55 wickets combined and received appreciation for their hard work. Bowling the last over of his spell, Rashid got rid of Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur on consecutive deliveries and registered his first IPL hat-trick. The Afghan player was leading GT as regular captain Hardik Pandya was unavailable in the match due to some health issues. The Afghan leg-break bowler trapped Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Deepak Hooda, and Avesh Khan and helped his team fold Lucknow on an embarrassing score of 82. Bowling first after losing the toss, Gujarat got an unprecedented bowling performance from the veteran. On the first delivery of the game, Shami got Phil Salt caught at short cover at the hands of David Miller. In his next over, he dismissed Rilee Rossouw and pushed DC into a perilous state. Bowling his third over, Shami outclassed Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg. Delhi could amass only 130 runs in 20 overs and Shami recorded his best bowling figures (4/11) for Gujarat. Despite the pacer’s disciplined bowling, GT couldn’t win the match as DC contained the hosts to 125. At the end of the game, Shami was chosen Player of the Match for his scintillating performance. 1. Against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, he clinched a fifer and guided his team to a comprehensive 62-run victory. Pursuing 234, MI lost their openers Nehal Wadhera and Rohit Sharma early but Suryakumar Yadav had scored a fifty and was becoming a dangerman. Mohit held his nerves in the huge match and got rid of Suryakumar and Vishnu Vinod in the same over. In the next over, Rashid Khan dismissed Tim David and broke MI’s back. Following David's departure, Mohit removed the tailenders Chris Jordan, Piyush Chawla, and Kumar Kartikeya and took his team home.
