India captain Shubman Gill returned to ODI action with a blistering century in the first match against the West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The opening batter scored a brilliant 110 off 108 balls, stitching a 151-run stand with his spiritual predecessor, Virat Kohli, as the pair made light work of a chase of 296.

Since debuting in 2019, Gill has taken to the format like a duck to water, evolving into one of the key pillars of the side, playing a major role in important tournaments like the 2023 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy. In a lofty career, which has spanned 68 games, Gill has scored 3,489 runs at a substantial average of 61.21 and strikes at a healthy 100.98.
