New Zealand and England are all set to clash against each other in the second ODI of the three-match series at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Wednesday, October 29.

New Zealand took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series after a composed four-wicket win over England in the first ODI at Mount Maunganui. Despite England’s early collapse, captain Harry Brook’s 135 off 101 balls gave his team something to fight for, as they posted 223 in 35.2 overs. Brook held one end while wickets kept falling at the other end, with only Jamie Overton (46) offering some support. Zakary Foulkes (4/41) and Matt Henry (2/53) ran through England’s top order.

In reply, New Zealand’s chase began on a poor note, with Brydon Carse (3/45) removing Will Young and Kane Williamson in quick succession. However, Daryl Mitchell (78*) and Michael Bracewell (51) steadied the innings with a crucial 92-run partnership. Mitchell, along with skipper Mitchell Santner (27), guided the hosts home comfortably with 80 balls to spare. Having won the first match, the hosts will look to register another victory and seal the series.

NZ vs ENG, 2nd ODI — Probable Best Performers of the Match

Probable Best Batter — Harry Brook

England skipper Harry Brook displayed remarkable brilliance with the bat in the opening game of the three-match fixture, scoring 135 off 101 balls. His innings, laced with nine boundaries and 11 sixes, helped the team to post a respectable target, despite losing wickets at regular intervals. However, his efforts went in vain as the home team chased down the target with relative ease. The right-handed batter will be looking forward to this game and will be hoping to put in yet another impressive showing with the bat.

Probable Best Bowler — Zakary Foulkes

The BlackCaps pacer Zakary Foulkes, who was playing his second ODI of his career, looked clinical with his bowling as he picked up 4/41 in seven overs. Foulkes got rid of Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Jacob Bethell, and Sam Curran. The youngster will look to make good use of the conditions and bowl another match-winning spell in the upcoming game.
