India were supposed to travel to Bangladesh for a multi-format series in August. The series was supposed to be India's first white-ball assignment after the successful Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, where they lifted the silverware for the third time. However, the latest development has emerged which says that the series in Bangladesh will be called off amidst growing political tensions between either of the governments.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the host country, has also put the sale of its media and broadcasting rights for the series on hold. The board, however, has said that if the series is conducted at a later date, the sale of rights won't be a big deal since the involvement of the Indian team is a guaranteed return for the broadcasters and media right holders.

"We will continue, we will take time to research the market. There is no point in rushing things. We can give different contracts," BCB officials told, according to Cricbuzz.

"The date for the India series hasn't been fixed yet. They (the BCCI) said it's difficult for them to come in August. This is part of FTP. We asked to sell the rights for only the Pakistan series. Then take your time. Because we don't have time. There is no time for the Pakistan series," the official from the board said further.

Wait continues for Rohit-Virat's return to internationals

The three ODIs in the proposed series was expected to see the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to international cricket, the duo's first after respective Test retirements. Notably, both Virat and Rohit play only One-Day Internationals currently, and are expected to play till the 2027 50-over World Cup. However, with the series likely to be cancelled, the fans will have to wait furthermore for the duo's return to India kits once again.

The first two ODIs were slated to be played at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, whereas, the third and final game of the 50-over leg was allotted to Chattogram. India's next ODI series is against Australia, where the two teams will compete in a three-match series down under in October this year.
