Bangladesh recall Litton Das for opening Test against Australia
Litton Das has recovered from a left calf injury and returns to Bangladesh's squad for the first Test against Australia in Darwin.
Bangladesh have recalled Litton Das to their squad for the first Test against Australia, which begins in Darwin on August 13, 2026. The wicketkeeper-batter had been ruled out of the match earlier due to a left calf injury but has since made sufficient recovery to be included.
Litton originally sustained the left calf muscle injury during the third ODI against Australia at home on June 14, 2026. His fitness had been a concern in the lead-up to the Test series, and he was formally ruled out of the first Test on July 25, 2026.
"Following positive progress in his recovery from a left calf injury, Litton Kumar Das has been included in Bangladesh's squad for the first Test against Australia, starting on August 13 in Darwin," the BCB said in a statement as quoted by The Daily Star.
His return to the squad follows positive progress in his rehabilitation. The BCB's decision to include him reflects confidence that he has recovered sufficiently to be available for selection for the opening Test. Litton is scheduled to fly to Darwin on Sunday to join the rest of the squad.

Bangladesh's squad for the first Test in Darwin includes Najmul Hossain Shanto as captain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz as vice-captain. The group features Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Taskin Ahmed. Earlier, right-arm pacer Nahid Rana was also ruled out of the squad due to a left-side strain.
The second Test of the series is scheduled to begin in Mackay on August 21, 2026. Litton had been expected to return for that match before his recovery allowed for an earlier recall to the first Test squad.
