In a recent turn of events in the 13th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL), Australian cricket fans are in for a treat as star players Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne are set to rejoin their respective teams for the upcoming matches. Adelaide Strikers' Alex Carey is also making a comeback, but the ODI World Cup final hero, Travis Head, is taking a well-deserved break.

Khawaja and Labuschagne are slated to play for the Brisbane Heat, a team that has been turning heads with an undefeated streak in the current season. The Heat faces the Perth Scorchers at the Gabba on Wednesday, and the return of these two cricket heavyweights is causing a stir in the squad. In the same vein, Wade Seccombe, the Heat's coach, expressed his optimism about having Khawaja and Labuschagne back in the lineup, stating,

"It will be good for the group to have Usman and Marnus back around the team, especially as we get into the business end of the competition," Seccombe was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

In consultation with Cricket Australia, Travis Head will not be available for Big Bash selection: Adelaide Strikers

Meanwhile, Adelaide Strikers, who are striving for a turnaround in their struggling campaign, will benefit from the return of the wicketkeeper-batter, Alex Carey. Notably, Strikers are currently sixth in the standings and will need a strong finish to make a playoff push. However, the absence of Travis Head, a key player in the Strikers' setup, has raised eyebrows.

"In consultation with Cricket Australia medical staff, Travis Head will not be available for Big Bash selection during the break between international Test series," a statement released by Adelaide Strikers mentioned.

As the BBL 2024 approaches its climax, these player movements are expected to spice up the competition. The Heat, with six wins in eight matches, are already guaranteed a top-three finish and will be looking to solidify their standing in the upcoming clashes against the Perth Scorchers.

Notable players like Steve Smith and David Warner are also anticipated to grace the BBL stage soon. Smith is set to feature for Sydney Sixers against Sydney Thunder, while Warner, amidst family celebrations, plans to join the game after his brother's wedding.
