Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have agreed to a four-player trade ahead of IPL 2027, with the deal confirmed on Wednesday, November 5. England all-rounder Liam Livingstone is the headline arrival at the five-time champions, moving from SRH to CSK at a reduced fee of INR 6 crore against his original price of INR 13 crore.

Australian seam-bowling all-rounder Jack Edwards also makes the journey from SRH to CSK, carrying an existing fee of INR 3 crore. Moving in the opposite direction, left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed departs CSK for SRH at his existing fee of INR 4.8 crore, while Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis joins SRH from CSK at his current fee of INR 2 crore.

The trade involves players across three nationalities and covers a range of bowling and batting skill sets, making it one of the more substantial inter-franchise exchanges ahead of the upcoming season.

What is the background of each player involved in the trade?

Liam Livingstone is a recognised England white-ball all-rounder who was part of the SRH setup before this move. His transfer to CSK at a significantly reduced fee of INR 6 crore, down from INR 13 crore, reflects the negotiated nature of the trade agreement between the two franchises.

Jack Edwards, the Australian seam-bowling all-rounder, was signed by SRH ahead of IPL 2026 but was ruled out of that entire season due to a foot injury, meaning he is yet to make his debut in the cash-rich league. His move to CSK at INR 3 crore gives him a fresh opportunity to feature in the tournament.

Khaleel Ahmed brings considerable IPL experience to SRH. The left-arm pacer took 15 wickets across 14 matches for CSK in IPL 2025, and he had previously represented SRH in 2018 and 2021. However, a right quadriceps injury restricted him to just 5 matches in IPL 2026 before he was ruled out. SRH will be familiar with what Khaleel can offer at his best.

Nathan Ellis, known for his effectiveness in the death overs and his variations, moves from CSK to SRH at an existing fee of INR 2 crore. The Australian fast bowler adds another pace option to the Hyderabad side for IPL 2027.
