Former Australian and Rajasthan Royals cricketer Brad Hogg hailed the potential of rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of IPL 2024, affirming his confidence that the upcoming season will display the best of the left-handed batter's prowess. The southpaw made his IPL debut for RR in the 2020 edition, and has adapted well to the nitty-gritty and nuances of the marquee league, stockpiling 1172 runs in 37 innings at a strike rate of 148.73.

Hogg highlighted Jaiswal's newfound confidence after his exceptional showing in the recent Test series against England, where the youngster amassed 712 runs in nine innings at an average of 89, and topped the run-scoring charts in the recently-concluded series. Hogg also mentioned that he was examining the RR squad quite closely, and the fact that he could find only a couple of limitations in their setup.

"I've been studying the RR team, and I could find only two holes in their lineup. They are set up by a very strong top-order, Jaiswal has got extra confidence going into this particular the way his Test career has taken off. I think we are going to see the best of him in IPL 2024," Hogg was quoted as saying by TOI.

Hogg also underscored the stability and the balance of RR's top six, pointing out the likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, and Rovmann Powell. He also highlighted Ravichandran Ashwin's utility with the bat, stating that he could be used as a floater as and when the situation demands.

"RR have a well-balanced top six with Hetmyer, Parag, and Powell in that line-up. The other thing I like about this lineup is that Ashwin can play as a floater. If they lose early wickets, they can drop their hitters down the order and Ashwin can come up the order," added Hogg.

Prasidh Krishna's injury really hurts RR, he could have had a real big reason: Hogg

Hogg acknowledged the setback caused to the Rajasthan-based franchise courtesy of Indian cricketer Prasidh Krishna's injury, which he sustained on his left proximal quadricpes tendon while playing for Karnataka in a Ranji Trophy match against Gujarat a couple of months back. Hogg also stated that he thought the freshly-drafted Avesh Khan from the Lucknow Super Giants will display the best of his bowling competencies in the upcoming season of the IPL.

"Prasidh Krishna's injury really hurts RR, he could have had a real big season. I really like Avesh Khan, I think he is going to have one of the best seasons that we have seen of him," Hogg further added.
