Haris Rauf is among the 10 marquee players set to headline next week’s inaugural men’s auction of The Hundred, with 14 Pakistan players included in the final longlist for bids. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the tournament’s eight franchises recently issued a joint statement affirming that selections would be based purely on performance, availability, and team requirements.

The clarification followed a BBC report suggesting that the four teams linked to IPL ownership groups might impose an unofficial ban on Pakistani players for geopolitical reasons. Initially, 63 Pakistani cricketers were part of the 710-player men’s longlist registered for the auction. Franchises were then asked to shortlist 75-100 preferred players, after which the list was reduced to 243 names. According to ESPNcricinfo, 14 Pakistan players remain in contention.

Alongside Rauf, the Pakistani contingent includes Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Usman Tariq, Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Amir, Zaman Khan, Usama Mir, Imad Wasim, Akif Javed, and Salman Mirza.

Rauf, who was recently left out of Pakistan’s World Cup squad, is one of 10 marquee players whose names will open the men’s auction on March 12. The five domestic marquee names are Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, James Vince, Jordan Cox, and Joe Root. The overseas marquee group features Aiden Markram, David Miller, Sunil Narine, Daryl Mitchell, and Rauf.

Rauf has previously represented Welsh Fire in The Hundred, claiming 16 wickets across two seasons. He also emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the recent Big Bash League while playing for Melbourne Stars under coach Peter Moores.

Pakistan are scheduled to tour the West Indies for a Test series during The Hundred window next summer, but white-ball specialists are expected to be available, subject to No-Objection Certificates from the PCB. The tournament will run from July 21 to August 16, marking the first season with private investment following last year’s franchise share sales. Three teams have been rebranded due to IPL affiliations, MI London (formerly Oval Invincibles), Sunrisers Leeds (Northern Superchargers), and Manchester Super Giants (Manchester Originals).

In the women’s competition, two Pakistan players, Fatima Sana and Sadia Iqbal, feature on the longlist. The women’s auction marquee names include Dani Gibson, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones, Tammy Beaumont, Davina Perrin, Nadine de Klerk, Sophie Devine, Beth Mooney, Sophie Molineux, and Deepti Sharma.

The women’s auction will take place on March 11, followed by the men’s auction on March 12 in Piccadilly, London.
