ENG vs IND 2025: 'I feel out of place' - James Anderson on sharing trophy name with Sachin Tendulkar
The Pataudi Trophy was recently rebranded as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy for Tests involving England and India.
Former English cricketer James Anderson confessed to feeling he does not feel he belongs at the same caliber of Sachin Tendulkar after his name was added alongside the latter to the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Anderson's comments came after the Pataudi Trophy was recently rebranded as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy for Tests involving England and India.
Anderson later elaborated on how he felt after hearing people what the legendary fast bowler had attained throughout his extended career.
“I feel completely out of place when I see myself alongside him with the trophy. As I said, I hold him in such high regard. It is strange that when people talk about what I have achieved in cricket, like when I hear about it as if someone's talking about someone else, if that makes sense. Like, I don't feel it is me who has achieved all this. It sounds really strange, but that is how my head works. I just can't quite believe the things that come with playing for such a long time,” Anderson shared while speaking on Sky Sports.
Earlier, the 42-year-old had shared that it was a proud moment for him and his family to have his name associated with Tendulkar on the trophy. This was when the ongoing five-match series between England and India had not yet kicked off.
Speaking of how the current series has panned out, the hosts are leading 2-1 after the three matches which have been played so far. The Shubman Gill-led India claimed a sensational win at Edgbaston by 336 runs to level the series after going down by five wickets in the series opener at Headingley.

The next match will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23.
