Indian all-rounder and Delhi Capitals' skipper Axar Patel has revealed a hilarious anecdote from the 2026 Indian Premier League around Ashutosh Sharma.

According to Axar, the incident occurred when the batter was struck on the head by a ball while batting in a match. As protocol suggests, team physiotherapist Craig Anthony de Weymarn ran out to engage Ashutosh in a concussion check. Ashutosh's response left both the physio and Axar perplexed as they began laughing

"It was a tense moment for Ashutosh Sharma. I was out of the ground. He was hit on the helmet. Craig our physio went to check on him. He was just about to ask him, when Ashutosh said, 'Yes bro. I am virgin,' Craig couldn't ask anything after that. Both of them just laughed and the physio returned. He is an extremely funny man, he could do anything," said Axar on the Humans of Bombay YouTube channel.

Axar's Delhi Capitals had an ordinary season in the IPL. They failed to make the playoffs for the second season running. The team finished sixth with 14 points from 14 games, a spot below their fifth-place finish in IPL 2025. They once again missed out on the playoffs narrowly, despite KL Rahul having a staggering season with the bat. The opener scored 593 runs at a sublime strike rate of 174.41, including a record-breaking 152 off just 67 balls against the Punjab Kings.

Axar, though, had an ordinary season with both bat and ball. He was able to manage just 173 runs at a strike rate of 131.06, with one half-century coming against the Kings. He picked up 11 wickets in 14 games at an economy of 8.18. He limited himself to the role of a powerplay and matchup bowler despite being one of the key bowling threats for the team. South African pacer Lungi Ngidi was the Capitals' highest wicket-taker with 13 scalps.
