The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has only two matches remaining. On Friday, May 29, the Qualifier 2 between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

Fans are curious, wondering what will happen in case the match gets washed out. Will there be a reserve day? The final is on Sunday, and there is one day in between. However, has the IPL Governing Council kept provision for Saturday to be used as a reserve day?

The answer to this is negative. Unlike the final, Qualifier 2 has no reserve day. However, match officials can use 120 extra minutes to wrap up the fixture. If no result is possible on the night, the Gujarat Titans will progress to the final due to their better finish in the points table compared to the Royals. Shubman Gill's men secured the second position on the points table, while Riyan Parag and Co. qualified as the fourth team.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already reached the final after beating the Titans by a whopping 92 runs in Qualifier 1 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala earlier this week. Meanwhile, the Royals got the better of the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 47 runs in New Chandigarh in the Eliminator to make it to Qualifier 2.

Looking back at RR and GT meetings in IPL 2026

RR and GT faced each other twice in the round-robin phase of the tournament. The Royals won in Ahmedabad by six runs as Tushar Deshpande bowled a brilliant last over under pressure. However, the Titans avenged their defeat in the return leg in Jaipur, winning the match by a comprehensive 77 runs.

The overall head-to-head between the two sides is quite one-sided. In 10 meetings, the Titans have a 7-3 lead over the Royals. However, previous records won't count for much in Qualifier 2, as the team that plays better cricket on the night will move into the title decider.
