Former West Indies captain Jason Holder is representing Worcestershire in the ongoing edition of the County Championship Division One 2024. The experienced seam-bowling all-rounder shared how his journey has been with the team so far.

Worcestershire have played three games so far in the County Championship. They started with draws against Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire before losing to Durham in their most recent encounter. Despite the slow start to the season, Holder asserted that the team has shown the ability to compete at this level and that they will only get better as they understand the optimum times to attack and defend.

"It’s been outstanding, I’ve picked up such a great deal from these boys. They’ve been, very warm and welcoming. The games have gone well so far, despite the loss, the team showed they can compete at this level," Holder said when he was asked to share his experience of playing for Worcestershire in an interview for the club.

"And I think once we grasp the pace of play and understanding of the times to attack and defend then we will be in a pretty good stead in terms of keeping a good standard throughout the season," he added.

I think Brett D'Oliveira has done an outstanding job in terms of rotating the guys: Jason Holder

The 32-year-old English batter Brett D'Oliveira is the captain of Worcestershire. Holder lauded him for tactically shuffling the bowlers and keeping everyone interested. Holder also hailed 25-year-old pacer Nathan Smith for his performances this season. The latter has bagged 13 wickets from three matches at an average of 19.38. However, the West Indies stalwart said that the entire bowling department has been supportive, which he said was a good sign.

"It’s been spot on. I think Dolly has done an outstanding job in terms of rotating the guys, keeping everybody interested. I mean, obviously Nathan Smith has been a find, he’s been outstanding for us so far, but everyone else is supportive, which is pretty good sign for a strong team," Holder stated.
