Nitish Kumar Reddy faces legal trouble as agency sues player over INR 5 crore unpaid dues
Player management agency Square The One Private Limited has filed a petition under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act.
Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is in legal trouble after his former agent filed a petition against him, seeking over INR 5 crore in unpaid dues.
Sources familiar with the matter confirmed that the relationship between Reddy and his former agency, Square The One, broke down during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. Following this, the player signed with the manager of another Indian cricketer who was also part of that tour.
Player management agency Square The One Private Limited has filed a petition under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, alleging a breach of the management agreement and non-payment of dues. The case is scheduled to be heard in the Delhi High Court on July 28.
Reddy ruled out of series, Arshdeep sidelined from 4th Test
The petition seeks the appointment of an independent arbitrator to resolve claims related to the alleged unlawful breach of contract and outstanding payments by the player.
Sources close to the stated that Square The One had represented Reddy since 2021, prior to his rise to prominence in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During their four-year association, the agency facilitated multiple brand endorsements and commercial partnerships for the cricketer.
“Ninety percent of such disputes do not reach court and are resolved privately. But in this case, Nitish refused to pay any money and claimed he had secured the deals himself,” a source was quotes as saying by India Today.
Reddy has faced difficulties since his impressive Test debut in the BGT. He had a disappointing run in the IPL 2025 season with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Despite carrying an injury during the IPL, he played in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and increased his bowling workload ahead of the Test series against England.
He scored 45 runs and picked three wickets across two matches. However, after participating in the Birmingham and Lord’s Tests, he suffered a serious knee injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
