Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar expressed that he is working on creating the kind of environment for his son Arjun Tendulkar, as he received during his formative years. He further opined on the importance of paying attention on the game and also reflected on the support he received from his family.

Arjun featured for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023, marking his first stint in the top-tier league. Reflecting on his debut campaign, Sachin shed light on the importance on having a solid support system in the family. Notably, the Master Blaster received tremendous support from his father, mother and his brother, Ajit Tendulkar.

"I am trying to create the same environment which was created for me. When you appreciate yourself, people will appreciate you. Pay attention to your game as what my father used to say, and now I am telling Arjun," Sachin told during a book launch event of 'Scintillating Sachin’.

"I got the support from my family. Ajit Tendulkar (brother) was instrumental in finding a solution. Nitin Tendulkar (brother) made the painting for me on my birthday. My mother was working in LIC, while my father was a professor. They gave me freedom. I urge parents to give freedom to their children as well," he said.

Sachin thanked Media fraternity for giving space to his son

Sachin Tendulkar further took the onus to thank the media present at the event for giving the required space to Arjun during the time when he retired from the sport. The ‘Master Blaster’ called time on his international career on 16th November, 2013, following the conclusion of his final Test match against the West Indies.

"The media felicitated me when I retired from the game. At that time, I had requested the media to give the required space to Arjun and let him fall in love with Cricket. The journalists gave him the freedom, so I thank them for this,” he added.

Speaking about Arjun’s IPL campaign, the left-arm pacer featured in four matches and claimed three scalps at a rather underwhelming average of 9.36. While there is lots for the youngster to work on, Arjun will be eager to grab his chances in the domestic games and come all guns blazing.
