‘Probably make or break time for me’ - Ollie Robinson reflects on poor form and injury-prone career

Once considered to be Stuart Broad’s replacement in England’s Test team, Ollie Robinson has failed to live up to the expectations. He had his fair share of success but injury concerns and poor form have once again put a question mark on his Test career. Acknowledging that Robinson stated that he understands the pressure and mentioned that it is probably make-or-break time for the England pacer.

The 30-year-old stated that going forward, he will try to stay injury-free and contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming summer, in which, England will host West Indies and Sri Lanka. Ahead of that, the pacer is slated to play for Sussex in the County Championship and is in good shape for the tournament. He is confident ahead of taking on Northants but understands that he isn’t young anymore and can’t make mistakes.

“I’m 30 now and in sport that’s not young anymore. I feel this is the last summer when I will get any slack. Going forward I have to perform, I have to be injury free and prove I’m the best bowler for the job. It’s probably make or break time for me,” Robinson was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.

During Ashes 2023, Ollie Robinson got into a heated argument with Australia opener Usman Khawaja. After which, former cricketer Ricky Ponting took a dig against Robinson while Matthew Hayden called him out for his poor pace. Speaking about that, Robinson stated that it hasn’t bothered him and he along with his teammates had a laugh reading those comments made by the legendary cricketers.

“I haven’t lost too much sleep over what the Australians have said to be honest. A few of my mates have sent those comments to me, laughing and stuff, and I do enjoy that side of things. Sometimes I say these things to drive me forward. But when I come out and say so many things, run my mouth a bit if you like, then I do have to expect a backlash when I don’t show up. When you say things and they don’t come off you can look a bit silly but all I can do is try to get it right,” Robinson concluded.
