Rohit Sharma passes newly introduced Bronco test with impressive show
Rohit Sharma was last seen in action during the Champions Trophy 2025.
Indian veteran Rohit Sharma recently took part in the newly introduced bronco test, and the results have now been revealed. The 38-year-old underwent the fitness assessment, which was implemented by the BCCI earlier this month, and his participation quickly became a major talking point.
Rohit not only passed the test but also reportedly impressed observers with his performance. The assessment also included the widely used Yo-Yo test, which continues to be a standard benchmark for measuring the fitness levels of Indian cricketers. According to RevSportz Global, all players who underwent the fitness tests on August 30 and 31 successfully cleared them.
The reports also highlighted that everyone was impressed with Rohit’s physical appearance and performance during the test at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna also drew praise for posting high numbers in the assessment.
Rohit is expected to feature in India’s upcoming ODI series in Australia on October 19, 23, and 25, but it remains uncertain whether he will also represent India A in their three one-day games against Australia A in Kanpur on September 30, October 3, and October 5.
The veteran opener has already called time on his careers in T20Is and Tests. After leading India to the T20 World Cup title in June 2024, he stepped away from the shortest format at the international level. Nearly a year later, he announced his retirement from Tests as well.
Former teammate gives verdict on Kohli, Rohit retirements
While Rohit signed off from T20Is on a high, his Test farewell was far less memorable. He endured a difficult run during India’s 2024–25 Test series in Australia, which concluded in January. Four months later, just before the squad announcement for the five-match home Test series against England, Rohit decided to step away from red-ball cricket.
As things stand, Rohit now continues to represent India only in ODIs. He also turned out for the Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2025 season. With questions lingering over his long-term future, his impressive results in the recently conducted fitness tests come as a much-needed boost for both the player and the team management.
