Scotland welcomes four uncapped players for ODI series against Netherlands

Scotland have selected four uncapped players for their three-match ODI series against Netherlands. The four players earning their first international call-ups are Ammy Baldie, Rebecca McCrossan, Charlotte Nevard and Isabella Watson. The series will take place across two venues, with matches scheduled for August 28, August 30 and September 1.

Scotland Women's Head Coach Craig Wallace expressed enthusiasm about the squad composition and the opportunity to host international cricket at home. Wallace stated that the series represents a significant chance for the team to play ODI cricket and stage more international matches in Scotland. He added that the players selected have demonstrated strong performances throughout the summer across various levels of the game.

"This series is an outstanding opportunity for us to play ODI cricket and host more international matches in Scotland. Our players all really enjoy the ODI format, and I'm looking forward to seeing them put in some strong performances in fixtures that I think really suits us," Wallace was quoted as saying by Cricket World.

It's great to welcome Ammy, Rebecca, Charlotte and Isabella into the squad and I'm keen to see how they perform. They have all played really well this summer, not just in the pathway setup but also in A team and regional cricket over the last couple of years, and hopefully they can continue that form and put in some excellent performances. It's really pleasing to see some strong performances within the pathway and regional programmes translating into opportunities at senior level," he added.

Pathway success translating to senior opportunities

The Head Coach emphasised that the development pathway creates genuine opportunities for emerging talent. He highlighted how strong domestic and regional performances can lead to senior international selection, which in turn strengthens overall squad depth and competition.

"It shows that the pathway is there for all players – if you play well and improve, there is potential for opportunity to be involved in the senior setup. That in turn pushes on those who've been involved for a while and builds greater depth. Everyone selected is deserving of their places here, having taken lots of runs and wickets across the summer. It's great to give our players more exposure to international cricket as we continue preparing for the important competition cycles that lie ahead," Wallace opined.

Match schedule and venues

McCrossan and Watson earned their places following impressive performances in Scottish domestic cricket and the Women's Regional Super Series. Several other players were unavailable for selection due to injuries or existing club and county commitments.

The first ODI will be held at Clydesdale in Titwood on Friday, August 28. The second and third matches will take place in Stirling on August 30 and September 1, respectively. The series marks the first assignment for Netherlands Women's Head Coach Pierre de Bruyn in his new role.
