A new two-year contract at The Blaze will keep Tammy Beaumont in professional cricket until at least 2028. The deal was confirmed on October 7 2026, roughly three months after the 35-year-old batter brought her international career to a close at the end of the Test against India at Lord's on July 10 2026.

Beaumont made her England debut in 2009 and went on to serve the national side for 16 years, becoming one of the most recognised names in women's cricket. She was part of the England squad that lifted the 2017 World Cup. The new agreement means that if she sees out the contract, she will have been involved in professional cricket across 21 seasons dating back to 2007.

"I'm so excited to be here for another couple of years as we hopefully try to defend some of our trophies we won this year," Beaumont said, as quoted by the BBC.

Why did Beaumont choose to continue at domestic level after retiring from England?

Having stepped away from international cricket in July 2026, Beaumont opted to extend her playing career at domestic level rather than walk away from the game entirely. She has been part of The Blaze setup since the team was renamed and relocated in 2022 from Loughborough, giving her an established connection with the club and its environment.

The Blaze made clear how highly they regard her contribution, describing Beaumont as an 'incredibly important part' of the squad. The club also referred to her as 'one of the highest-quality players of this generation', signalling that they moved quickly to retain her services once her international commitments ended. Head coach Craig Cumming will continue to work with Beaumont as a key batting resource across the next two seasons.

What does Beaumont's background bring to The Blaze going into 2027 and 2028?

Beaumont arrives at this new domestic chapter carrying the experience of a lengthy and decorated international career. She first represented England in 2009 and remained a fixture in the national setup until her retirement in July 2026, a span of 16 years that covered multiple formats and major tournaments including the 2017 World Cup triumph.

Her familiarity with The Blaze, built since the club's 2022 relaunch, means there is no settling-in period required. The club's confidence in her ability to perform at the highest domestic level was evident in the language used when confirming the deal. With the two-year contract now in place, Beaumont's focus shifts entirely to contributing to The Blaze's ambitions through to 2028.
