England Women name Under-19 squad for World Cup and India series

England Women have announced a 15-player squad for the 2027 ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place across Bangladesh and Nepal in January and February 2027. Before the tournament, the same group will travel to India for a five-match T20 series in November and December 2026.

Phoebe Brett of Warwickshire is the sole player retained from England's 2025 Under-19 squad, with 14 uncapped faces joining her in the selection. Maria Andrews, who was among the non-travelling reserves for the 2025 tournament, has earned a place in the full 15 this time around. The ECB confirmed that a captain will be announced separately ahead of the tour.

The 2027 edition is the third instalment of the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup. England's most recent campaign ended at the semi-final stage of the 2025 edition in Malaysia, where India defeated them before going on to lift the title. India enter the 2027 cycle as defending champions.

What does the India T20 series schedule look like?

The five-match series opens on November 26, 2026, in Baroda, with the second fixture following two days later at the same venue on November 28. The series then moves to Surat for the final three matches, played on December 1, December 3 and December 6, 2026.

Once the series concludes, the squad will use the remaining time in India for an additional week of outdoor training before the ICC tournament begins in January 2027. Head coach Chris Guest described the programme as the strongest preparation England have assembled for a U19 Women's World Cup.

"This is an exciting opportunity for this group of players who will be the best prepared squad we will have sent to the U19 Women’s World Cup," Guest said in an official statement.

What are England's goals for the winter programme?

The coaching staff have set out two clear objectives for the winter. Winning the World Cup is the primary competitive aim, while the broader programme is also intended to give players an early experience of what a professional cricket environment demands over a sustained period. Five non-travelling reserves have also been confirmed to support the squad throughout the programme: Ava Clive, Ivreen Dhaliwal, Libby Fellows, Lucy Randle-Bissell and Isobel Thorndike.

"The goals for the winter are dual focused. We want to win the World Cup, and we are also developing players and helping them prepare for what their career might look like in a professional environment," Guest said.
