A reflex catch held onto by Tushar Deshpande brought about the end of MS Dhoni in Match 62 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, May 20. Dhoni's 17-ball 16-run knock came to an end on the fifth delivery of the 20th over of the first innings.

A low full-toss outside off stump by Akash Madhwal was powerfully deflected by the CSK skipper towards the short fine leg region. The former CSK player, Deshpande, put his hands up as a reflex action. The ball stuck and made Deshpande lose balance and fall because of the sheer momentum with which the ball had come towards him. This was Madhwal's third stroke of the evening.

Speaking of the first innings, CSK ended up posting 187/8 at the end of 20 overs. Ayush Mhatre looked in promising touch, but had to walk back just as the powerplay was about to end on 42 (20). Devon Conway, Urvil Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja assembled an aggregate of only 14 runs amongst themselves.

Dewald Brevis (42 off 25) and Shivam Dube (39 off 32) forged a 59-run stand of only 36 deliveries to do a perfect repair job after the early collapse, which had CSK lose half their side by the eighth over. As for RR, Madhwal was the pick of the bowlers. The right-armer registered figures of 3/29 in his four-over spell. Wanindu Hasaranga (1/27 in four overs) was impressive with the ball too.
